Yellowstone

This summer, I visited Yellowstone with my friends and family. This was my second National Park visit, and I was stunned when I arrived. We had only flown just a few hours, and life here was already very different. I could also see so many differences from my everyday lifestyle. There were huge trees, dry grass, and a lot of animals, such as bison and pronghorn. Visiting Yellowstone was a whole new experience for me.

When I was little, I went to zoos to see animals, so when I arrived at Yellowstone, I was amazed to see animals interacting in their natural habitat. There were huge bison grazing on the grassy plains, they were flicking their tails around to get rid of the flies. Half of their bodies were covered in fuzzy brown fur that looked like a cozy sweater. They had large faces, and some of them were sneaking around. I saw tons of them during our trip. Some other animals that I saw were pronghorn. Even though I’ve seen many deer, I had never seen any pronghorn before my Yellowstone trip. They had long horns that curved inward, and their fur was creamy white and coffee brown. It seemed that most of them preferred the dry, dead grass. Some of them looked like they were resting while lying down on the dirt. I was also really surprised when I saw moose. I’ve never seen moose before I went to Yellowstone. They were in a river, and it seemed like they were eating something in it. They had huge antlers that looked like coat hangers, and they had long faces and dark brown bodies. They were standing in the middle of a river, while occasionally bending their heads down to drink water. I wasn’t expecting to see any bears during my trip, but we did. We were driving along a forest highway when our tour guide suddenly stopped. We looked out of the window, and we could see a bear and her cub walking down the highway. The cub was walking next to its mother, and they were both brown and fuzzy. I was astonished by all these animals that I saw.

There was also amazing scenery in Yellowstone. There was the “Sleeping Bunny Mountain”. It is a mountain that resembles a sleeping bunny with its hands on its stomach. The streams were crystal clear, and you could see the pebbles and rocks on the bottom. They were running through the forest, and you could see the reflections of trees in them. While we were driving, we saw long, green, wavy grass. We could see it everywhere we looked. In the grass, there were wildflowers. They were spread out, and they were mostly dark yellow and muddy purple. They fit in with some of the dried-out parts of the grass. We took a lot of pictures, but it always looks better when you see it with your own eyes.

I also loved the tourist attractions that we visited. They looked stunning. The first place that we visited was the Mud Volcano. It was a huge hole in the ground with hot mud bubbling out of it. It made a strange “gloop” noise when it bubbled. I feel like I enjoyed this attraction the most. One of my favorite places was the Fountain Paint Pots. I think they were called the Fountain Paint Pots because they resembled an artist's paint palette. Steam would rise from it, and the rocks underneath were different colors. The colors were red, blue, orange, and gray. There were geysers that were holes in the earth that shot out huge acidic streams of water. It was a stunning sight to see, even though it smelled bad. The water shot high, and when it shot out, it made a “pshhh” noise. I feel like they shot out about 20ft or 15ft. These attractions were amazing to go to, and they were so beautiful to see.

I enjoyed everything that I saw and did in Yellowstone, and all these places were so amazing. I felt so disappointed when we left Yellowstone, but I’m still glad that I saw all of those things. I can never forget the wildlife, the scenery, and the tourist attractions. I hope that I can go back there again someday!
